Day #15 Dog Eared Ceramic Basket – 1LB of Clay

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS: When I see really wet
clay there is a part of me that just wants to grab and bend it and see how many
ways I can make it move. I’ve never really taken the time to try it out! This
bowl was actually a boo boo…it was a little lopsided and something I was going
to toss out. Since I started to record it I decided to see how far I could get
with it before it went to the reclaim bin!
WHAT WOULD I HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY? I know exactly what I would do….I would have
left the handle plain. “Enough is as good as a feast” and I think adding this
extra texture was in my opinion taking it one step too far. Also, I would have
made a thinner taller handle so that the contrast between the two sizes was
even more dramatic.
THE ATMOSPHERE: Concentrating…I was really
focused on how to make this handle work. How to implement it, what props did I
need to make it work. I was doing a lot of problem solving in my head on his
piece so I was focused.
